CENTRALIZED ETHYLENE SUPPLY FOR TOBACCO CURING

The CRS
A revolutionary design providing a continuous supply of ethylene to any number of barns. Safe, easy and proven for better tobacco curing.
A Continuous Supply of Ethylene
The CRS will supply any number of barns with a constant supply of Ethy-Gen® II Ripening Concentrate, which is converted to ethylene by our CRS Generators, conveniently positioned in each barn. This is the best system available for accelerating the tobacco curing process...why? It is safe, easy to use, and proven.

How It Works
A custom designed low-flow pumping station constantly provides Ethy-Gen® II Concentrate to the CRS Generators through a continuous loop of specially designed industrial grade tubing. Whenever a barn is ready for ethylene application, all that is needed is to turn the CRS Generator in that barn on!

Easy To Use
Using Ethy-Gen® II allows for inspection of the product received and easy checking of inventory; no weighing or guesswork about ethylene supply, making it nearly impossible to run out of ethylene. Reduced handling and labor because there is no filling of generators and less changing of containers, thanks to the large supply of concentrate. Container installation is simple with “Quick-Disconnect” fittings. A Pump Control Station constantly monitors for proper Ethy-Gen® II flow and notifies personnel in the event of a problem or empty Ethy-Gen® II container.

Installation
Installation typically takes 1-2 days and is performed by our personnel. Most barn layouts are easily adaptable to the CRS design. Ethy-Gen® II and CRS Generators are ordered direct from Catalytic Generators, LLC and we then ship direct using freight lines and UPS.

Other Features

The CRS is installed with a Control Station that has these features:
  • Leak Detection:
A high quality, electronic and state-of-the-art flow detection device is sensitive to changes in the flow of Ethy-Gen® II Ripening Concentrate in the return line of the CRS.
  • Safety:
In the event of a leak, the Control Station will shut off the CRS pump and stop the flow of Ethy-Gen® II and turn on a bright red indicator light. Other options are available for employee notification, such as an audible alarm or phone dialer.
  • Convenience:
The Control Station provides for an easy way to turn the CRS pump on/off. Also, should the supply of Ethy-Gen® II run out, the flow detector will sense this and shut the pump off, illuminating the indicator light. This will notify personnel of the need to change Ethy-Gen® II containers and helps to extend the life of the pump. The Control Station is also equipped with a time delay, so in the event of a power outage or change in Ethy-Gen® II containers, the delay will override the flow detector to allow the pump to prime.

CRS - Centralized Ripening System® Generator
The CRS Generator is easy to use and is adjustable to adapt to any ethylene requirement. It provides continuous, consistent ethylene production for even, better and quicker curing. Similar to our traditional Tobacco Curing Generator, it uses a flexible hose to direct the ethylene output through the furnace floor into the airflow.

The CRS generator is wall mounted and with it's narrow design, the unit does not take up much space in the furnace room of the barn.
Connecting generators to the Ethy-Gen® II supply line is simple and easy with “Quick-Disconnect” fittings located on the side of the generator.

Proper Operation Indicator Light
We continue to look for ways to improve our products and make ethylene application even easier and more efficient. One of our latest improvements of the CRS generator is the Proper Operation Indicator Light.

Making the curing job even easier, an all-new control board powers this indicator light and monitors critical processes of the generator. A bright green light indicates that these processes are running correctly and ethylene production should be optimal. If anything falls outside of our parameters, then the board will shut the generator down and change the indicator light to red. A reset button has been added to give users the ability to clear any red light shutdown of the generator. This will enable the unit to go through another diagnosis of the generator's operating parameters. While very infrequent and unlikely, an electrical spike or low voltage situation in a facility could cause disruptions in the operation of the generator and force a generator shutdown. In this case, the reset button will allow the user to reset the generator to return to normal operation.
